THE TREND

privacy1

This is a trend that addresses the increasing desire for privacy in our lives, in our work life, in our social life and even in our online presence. We’ve reached a critical tipping point now where having shared so much information; and for some of this information being misused; we want to regain control. It is a calm, simple and ordered style that explores concealing, revealing and unexpected transparencies.

SOCIAL SOLITUDE

privacy1-copy

Furniture companies are now taking on board the idea of nesting and privacy to create products that enable social solitude in the workplace. Open working environments inevitably mean more noise levels, distractions and interruptions; sometimes we need a quiet place to take refuge and really focus on a task alone… furniture can provide the answer.

privacy-2

REVEAL & CONCEAL

A simplistic and edited-down approach is crucial, but it is also inviting, there is a sense of softness, curvaceousness and plain smoothness; it is simply modern. The elements of concealing and revealing are being explored by designers; some product areas appear blurred or frosted and there is a play on revealing or exposing things that are normally hidden or concealed.

privacy13

The greatest luxury of the past decade has been time, but as we stride ahead into a digital era we predict that the next greatest luxury will be privacy…

THE Look for your Home this Christmas: Style, Color & Look

We have released our Autumn/Winter 2016/17 Pinterest board; HEATHLAND. This board will give you all the inspiration you need from interior style & tableware trends to christmas wrapping, stationery and festive decor.

THE TREND

This trend has a real enchanting mood as we begin to see unexpected encounters with nature being designed and created by architects, artists and designers worldwide. There is a subtle Wuthering Heights influence here which defines this trend’s overall look, it relates in part to the 200th anniversary of the Brontë sisters’ birth.

Glorious Heather Tones

heathland-1

This trend’s palette is a dramatic collection of rich colors, many of which have a gray cast. Black iris is beautifully tinged with purple as this year sees a play on contrast with darker and more intense color combinations. Deep purple hues, heather tones and lilac shades will be an important color family for this coming winter. Luscious plum reflects our passion for luxury, a respect for history and deep love for the complexity of the modern world. The evocative nature of this shade is enhanced by teal or indigo and looks dramatic alongside deep earthy greens, bracken browns and dense floral patterning. Pair these shades with muted lilacs or gray toned neutrals.

The palette reflects a growing desire for colors that project a luxurious richness, yet also have a strong connection to nature.

The Festive Look

This trend translate beautifully into a christmas look for this season. Touches of glamorous materials and luxury metallics work alongside the love of rustic and natural styling. There is an emphasis on the natural charm of the British countryside and a real, warm country house feel. Rustic handmade look tree decorations could include cable knit ornaments, tweed garlands and crocheted snowflake embellishments.

All things Stationery…

5 Stationery Brands to Love Right Now

As a passionate stationery enthusiast I love nothing more than scouting trade shows and events for new, up and coming designers and scoping out the fresh product launches from some of my favourite brands. Although technology sometimes takes over our lives, it is clear the love for all things stationery has not subsided as consumers continue to seek fashion-led paper products that we see constantly being blogged or instagrammed.

Here are 5 stationery brands and designers to watch out for…

1.Message Earth

This beautiful collection of greeting cards combines the stunning photo art created by Helena Christensen with an environmentally friendly philosophy. The cards are created with 100% recycled paper, printed using only vegetable ink and packaged in 100% bio-degradable plastic wrapping. A great combination of Danish design, sustainability and heartfelt messages. The unusual but intriguing mix of rusticity with pretty florals is perfect for this coming season!

2. Studio Sweet and Sour

Studio Sweet and Sour is a Dutch design studio who create wonderful stationery and gifts that are out of the ordinary. Their aim is to make things fun and to put a smile on your face (it definitely worked for me). They have a big love for detail and pay as much attention to the inside as they do the outside including interesting metallic foiling and neon edging. With contemporary colour combinations and exciting surface finishes; this is a product collection your don’t want to miss!

I love this award winning brand… Men’s society is your one stop shop for stylish and quality gifts designed specifically for men. They source unusual, quirky and classic items that will never date but rather improve with age and use. Many of their products are handmade using only the finest tools; this connects perfectly with our Analogue Workshop Trend for 2017. I will no longer struggle to buy presents for the men in my family!

4. Ohh Deer

Launched in 2011, this brand aims to bring quirky illustrated products to the mass market. This modern collective is made up of many unique illustrators who create anything from homeware to stationery and everything in-between. I particularly loved the dark floral notebooks designed by Susan Castillo, it fits perfect with our Heathland Trend for this coming winter.

THE TREND

Native is a trend that evolves to be very modern & futuristic but also very natural and it’s this combination that defines its unique look. It is an amalgamation of craft, eco design and technology, with suprising interactions between synthetic and natural materials to create a neo-craft aesthetic. Unexpected colour combinations, minimalistic styling and nomadic design qualities influence it’s overall style.

This trend expresses a lot of optimism about the future…

native - COLOUR-minThe colour influence is a very modern mix of crisp brights with very rich natural pigments such as bamboo, spruce green and burnt sienna. Colour play across this trend is dynamic and bright. Synthetic colours are combined with warm neutral tones which sparks fascinating colour clashes across product.

INTERIOR DESIGN

It is a unique and perfect mix between futuristic tech styling and the rusticity of traditional craft combined with contemporary global folk influences. It offers a new take on the eco sustainability trend.

native - FLOORING-min

KITCHEN & DINING

It is clean and simple in its aesthetic, handcrafted elements come through in the use of natural materials such as wood and bamboo as well as eco-friendly textiles. Geometric, native global patterns often mimic shapes found in natural landscapes.

STATIONERY INSPIRATION

Stationery mixes pattern influences from around the world. Wolves, bears and owls come into play for pattern and decorative product with illustrative native american spirit guides. Arrow shapes, teepee constructions and contemporary aztecs can be seen in both neutral and synthetic colours.

CHRISTMAS

Explore a contemporary christmas this year; feathers and dream catchers make great tree decorations and gift wrap ideas, incorporate this with arrows and rustic textile weaves. Clean lines and simple constructions create delicate geometrics for a modern style.

Why not pick out the contemporary brights in the palette and combine the geometric shapes with global folk aztec patterns for a fresh craft aesthetic.

Here are 3 of our favourites…

Being eco friendly and sustainably responsible are part of their core attributes, which to some extent shapes their ‘over-all style’.

Their beautiful stand was filled with products that represent a laid back, slow and steady lifestyle; which fits in perfectly with our Desert Wanderer Trend.

YOLANDA ZARINS

Yolanda designs, hand prints and hand dyes beautiful unique textiles in her studio in Southern Tasmania. Yolanda studied textile design in Melbourne and graduated in 2013, her work plays homage to the natural & ancient landscapes found in Tasmania and the idea of a ‘wild land’ making it’s way indoors to become part of the interior environment.

The lush foliage prints relate to our ‘Organic Matter’ Trend… A trend that addresses the increasing desire to re-evaluate our relationship with Nature, we begin to appreciate and explore natural design processes and embrace unstructured design qualities.
