Texture at the Surface Design Show 2017

We visited the Surface Design Show back in February, a show that exhibits the latest in design and innovation for both interior and exterior surface applications. From flooring to wallpapers, lighting, stoneware and much more, this years’ show was an inspiring experience, with impressive new sustainable materials and interactive design concepts.

In this post, we have reported on some of the key themes seen at this years 2017 Surface Design show, if you would like a more in-depth trend report or the latest interior trend report please do not hesitate to get in touch!

The Beauty of Nature

The focus really is on our natural surroundings and organic materials to create a deeper, more tactile experience in our quest to feel more connected to nature. The boundaries between our urban lifestyle and rural landscapes begin to blur with sustainability and eco-integration at the forefront of design in all sectors.

Enhanced 3D

Precisely engineered structures and prints come to life, whether it is a flat wall piece or rug design, the 3D concept creates inspiring new formations to be applied to interior and exterior surfaces. This architectural approach continues to trend as we push the boundaries with technology and embrace new compositions.

Dark Metallics

An interesting mix of dark metallics was clearly present at the show. Liquid-look surfaces often with a distressed, industrial finish continue to be important as they spread their way through every sector, in particularly deep gun metal shades, bronze and dulled gold. This influence relates to our interest in planetary and outer space exploration.
